Insurance Bookkeeper

 

Location: New Bern, NC (Remote candidates considered)

Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (Flexible based on experience)


Position Summary:

 

The Pemberley Group is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our team. While experience in the insurance industry—especially with independent agencies or wholesalers—is a plus, we’re happy to train the right candidate on the niche-specific aspects of the role. If you’re an experienced bookkeeper with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a desire to learn, we want to hear from you.


This role involves managing the day-to-day financial operations for our clients with precision and integrity. It’s perfect for someone who enjoys numbers, takes pride in their work, and thrives in a collaborative and flexible environment.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Maintain accurate financial records for insurance clients
     
  • Process payroll and payroll-related entries
     
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
     
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports
     
  • Manage journal entries and general ledger maintenance
     
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting as needed
     
  • Coordinate with client teams and internal staff to ensure data accuracy and timeliness
     

Ideal Qualifications:


  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
     
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online
     
  • Familiarity with general accounting principles (GAAP preferred)
     
  • Exposure to insurance agency management systems (AMS) such as Applied EPIC, HawkSoft, TAM, etc. is a plus, but not required
     
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to the insurance industry
     
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
     
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
